PROTECT YOUR SECOMAK GAS BOOSTER

Secomak suggest that for vendors and owners of a gas booster, now is the time to inspect it to ensure it operates effectively through the winter months.
Back in 1969, Secomak worked alongside British Gas to design and manufacture the first gas booster. Secomak also sat on the board of directors to define the British Standards as they are today.
The latest British Standards BS8487:2007 & 2013 recommend:

Drive Belts replace every year
Bearing Assemblies replace every five years
Flexible Connectors replace every five years

Whilst a component may appear in good working order, it pays to replace these serviceable parts on time, to reduce the risk of downtime.

Riello’s premix burners up to 3MW

Riello RX premix packaged burners are available in outputs up to 3MW, offering NOx levels of less than 40mg/kWh, with high turndown ratios of up to 8:1.
The main differences between traditional pressure jet burners and premix burners relate to the ways in which the air and gas is mixed and in the technology of the combustion head.

In traditional pressure jet burners, the gas and the combustion air are mixed at the point of ignition on the end of the combustion head in the space available in the combustion chamber (diffusive flame).

Guide To Identifying True Boilerhouse Efficiency Launched

With economic uncertainty dampening the abilities of businesses to compete in a domestic and global market, energy, maintenance and plant operators are under increasing pressure to reduce operational costs.

A new guide sheds light on the core challenges with traditional boilerhouse energy measurement and areas for improvement.

Authored by Darren Silverthorn, National Controls and Metering Specialist at Spirax Sarco, the new guide aims to support operational management teams by highlighting areas for improvement that could be made to enhance efficiency and reduce the money spent paying for energy.

Facing the future, knowing the facts

Companies that want to make the difference, are resolutely drawing the card of optimisation. Improving the performance of your machinery becomes the main objective in any production environment. New technologies and digitisation play a crucial role in this. Especially in maintenance and asset management. With the Asset Performance 4.0 conference and exhibition, BEMAS challenges professionals to explore new horizons. The extensive range of products and services at the exhibition, together with a series of inspiring presentations and workshops, is reason enough to mark 10, 11 and 12 June 2020 in your agenda.

Modulift - Back to the future

With the recent move into its new purpose-built 22,000 square foot manufacturing facility, Modulift’s Technical Director, Sue Spencer reflects on how the company has changed immeasurably since its humble beginnings in 2002.
The business started its journey in the early days by focusing on selling a new concept of Spreader Beam which moved away from traditional fixed length Spreader Beams that were cumbersome to store and transport and only available to order with long lead times, to a modular lighter-weight design that would be available from stock and easy to store or transport beams in pieces. When I was designing the initial range of sizes up to 110 tonnes capacity, I never imagined the company’s huge success 17 years later.

Sulzer’s plant-based, crude oil-free vanillin recipe

Sulzer supports leading aroma producer with a unique bio-based vanillin separation unit

Vanilla is one of the most popular and marketed aromas in the world, yet its global shortage is forcing food manufacturers and perfumeries to turn to cheaper, more accessible artificial alternatives. When a leading manufacturer of food, flavor and fragrance ingredients, wanted to boost the sustainability of its production process for synthetic aromas, it turned to Sulzer and its state-of-the-art separation technologies.

The typical vanilla aroma comes from one single compound, vanillin, which is among the world’s most popular plant-derived flavors and fragrances. Its annual worldwide consumption exceeds 18’ 000 tonnes (19’842 tons), yet only 0.25% comes from vanilla pods.

Stop Operators Blowing Coolant Into The Atmosphere

The New BD1000 from AirBench helps control coolant problems.

AirBench BD is a self-contained blowdown station for the removal of coolant and swarf from machined parts. An operator can simply place parts in the cabinet, lower the screen, and use the integral blow gun to clean parts using factory compressed air. An integral venturi system assists with capture of coolant and the filter system in the base of the unit is easily replaced when full.
