NEW CHAIRMAN AND BOARD MEMBERS FOR HAE EHA

Leading trade body for the hire and events industries Hire Association Europe Event Hire Association (HAE EHA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Neil Bravery, Managing Director of SHC Hire Centres, as Chairman of the Main Board. Neil takes over the reins from Brian Sherlock of Brandon Hire Station, who stepped down as Chairman after three years in the role.

Neil brings with him extensive experience, having been part of the Tools, Plant & Equipment Board and the HireTrain Committee. He also helped lead the development of the Digger & Dumper Safety Working Group which aims to drive change across the industry and eliminate fatal accidents. As HAE EHA looks onwards and upwards to the future, this new appointment brings with it exciting times ahead as the sector is set for a strong bounce back after the events of the last 18 months.

The Association thanked Brian Sherlock for his hard work over the last three years, and it goes without saying that the last year and a half in particular has been one of the most challenging times for those working in the hire and events industries. This of course has had a huge knock-on effect for the inter-connected web of industries that rely on these sectors. Outgoing chairman Brian praised the Association’s resolute approach during this difficult period, and commented that “HAE EHA were relentless in their actions to reignite events and keep the tool and equipment sector trading.”

BigChange Supports Lean Management at Dealey Environmental

Dealey Environmental, a specialist in environmentally friendly pest control, has reduced the resources required to manage its mobile workforce by 50 per cent following the implementation of latest field service management software from BigChange. Offering the full range of environmental protection services including bird control, fumigation, grounds maintenance and cleaning, Dealey has been pioneering environmentally friendly products and service since its inception in 1954. Using the BigChange platform, Dealey has further improved its green credentials with a significant reduction in paperwork and has boosted its customer experience with automated reporting.

“Before BigChange we were killing trees not just pests!” commented Martin Cobbald, Managing Director of Dealey Environmental. “We consumed paper at an unsustainable rate and not only was this bad for the planet it was bad for us and for our clients. We had paper everywhere, except where it was meant to be, and it took a huge amount of my time to schedule jobs, manage the team and liaise with clients.

“Around this time, I was introduced to the concept of ‘lean management’ which focusses on continuous improvement and optimising resources,” he continued, “I was also recommended BigChange and realised the fit between our aspirations, the model for a successful business and the BigChange solution, and we haven’t looked back.”

Dealey Environmental, based in Suffolk, offers a wide range of services in the field of pest control and wildlife management. Serving clients in the food manufacturing, bioscience, farming and haulage sectors – in fact any business with pests, Dealey is one of the few companies that will look to address the cause of an issue rather than just the manifestation. Where remedial action is required Dealey uses the best equipment with the latest chemicals and adheres to the most stringent audit standards.

Since implementing the single platform CRM, Job Scheduling, Live Tracking, Field Resource Management and Online Portal, from BigChange, Dealey records all customer interactions, automatically schedules routine tasks and captures site visit records, including photographs, for auditing and reporting. HR uses vehicle tracking reports to further reduce paperwork and reduce the monthly payroll resource and the online library has made new recruitment inductions and training more efficient and effective.

“Since the first meeting BigChange talked our language making an effort to understand our business and our needs,” Cobbald concluded. “There is always someone available with guidance, insight and patience, and I know that as we continue to grow BigChange will grow with us.”

Reducing Energy Usage up to 50% for Industrial Sectors

To mark the new year, Wanner International has announced that it can reduce the total energy usage by up to a half for some industries that rely heavily on pumps for their processes. The company is focusing on the importance of reducing energy consumption in the wake of COP26, and wants to highlight that it is playing its part in making a more sustainable future a reality.

Wanner provides pumps for a range of industries across the globe, from oil and gas, through to food production, chemical and pharmaceutical production. Of course, it can’t on its own solve the carbon crisis, but what it is doing is examining every pump it manufactures, helping customers reduce energy usage by careful placement of Hydra-Cell® pumps, and squeezing carbon out of the system.

Choosing the right pump technology can have an effect on energy usage. The Hydra-Cell® pump’s true positive displacement action and minimal internal losses achieve high efficiencies from pump shaft to hydraulic power; this combined with the wide range of flow rate controllability ensures optimum energy usage. Alternative pump technologies with inherent internal losses, which get larger as internal parts wear, start to become lower in efficiency as the discharge pressure goes above 10 bar and only gets worse with increasing pressure.

Some of Wanner’s Hydra-Cell® pumps have been reliably operating in the field for a quarter of a century plus, which again frees resources that can be devoted into improving sustainability. Considering that some industries in which Wanner operates, such as oil and gas, are shifting heavily into renewables, the flexibility of the Hydra-Cell® pump to handle many different liquids coupled with its high energy efficiency and reliability has a large role to play in reducing the carbon footprint.

Paul Davis, Wanner International’s managing director commented: “Switch on your TV and you will see climate disasters around the world taking lives, homes, livelihoods and destroying ecosystems. From soaring temperatures causing wildfires that ravaged Greece and Australia to unprecedented levels of rainfall that led to severe flooding in Germany and South Asia. Around the world, everyone is being affected by climate change.

“And everyone needs to be part of the solution. We are dedicated to enabling our customers to save energy, to save resources and we hope that with our leadership, they will follow this example across the whole of their supply chains.”

PETRONAS Lubricants International launches re-engineered PETRONAS Syntium oil range to deliver maximum vehicle efficiency

CoolTech+™ technology lays the foundation for a next-gen product range that exceeds industry sustainability standards

PETRONAS Lubricants International (PLI) today launches its new PETRONAS Syntium range, proudly crafted to boost thermal efficiency, control engine heat dissipation, and reduce the fuel emissions of passenger vehicles worldwide. With new CoolTech+™ technology supporting the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team to an eighth consecutive Constructors’ Championship, PETRONAS Syntium will enable motorists to unlock the same optimal engine performance and achieve stronger sustainability on every journey, cementing PLI as a world-leading developer of automotive lubricant efficiency.

Most modern engines only convert around one third of their potential fuel energy into power. Not only is the rest of this thermal energy left unconverted, but it dissipates as waste heat, meaning more than half of the useful energy produced by cars globally is lost to engine inefficiency. Excessive heat can also cause damage to critical engine parts, such as turbochargers, pistons, and bearings.

PETRONAS Syntium now offers almost 40% stronger protection against the wear of critical parts than past generations, targeting heat-critical zones within the engine to prevent deposit build-up, extend parts life, and lower maintenance costs. Thanks to exceptionally strong oil chains, the new PETRONAS Syntium range also provides up to 68% higher oxidation resistance, controlling sludge, delaying oil thickening, and maintaining a stable, protective film for maximum engine performance. And with its superior ability to control heat by reducing friction, CoolTech+™ technology cuts vehicle emissions and fuel consumption by up to 3%, minimising the environmental impact of driving and saving motorists money.
